Beginner's Sailing

All sailing abilities are welcome to come along to our Social Sailing Sessions. We hold the sessions on Wednesday afternoons, both for those who have never sailed before, and for those who wish to improve. Our Social Sailing Captains will be there, along with other experienced members of the club, to teach you the ropes!

Racing

Lancaster University Sailing Club focuses on team racing, which involves three boats on three, in a short, tense battle. We train on Saturdays ultimately aiming to qualify and perform well at the BUSA University Team Race Nationals event at the end of the season. We also go to numerous events at various universities, mostly in the north, such as the Leeds Howler, Durham/Newcastle Angel of the North, Hallam Hangover, Manchester Lash and more. We compete against a selection of other universities in two day events. This year we hope to improve our results and to build on our second ever qualification to BUSA finals last year by breaking the top 15. Racing is available to those of different levels of experience; if you are a competent casual sailor wanting to learn more, or if you have previous race experience before coming to university and want to improve in order to travel to events in the A team, everyone is welcome to try out!

Socials

From the legendary Three-Legged Crawl to the infamous Pub Golf, Lancaster University Sailing Club hosts regular themed nights out, including, due to great demand, the repeat of the ever successful Onesies Social! The formal Christmas Dinner, Roses and Final Fling are the highlights of our social calendar, mixing a day of sailing, a restaurant meal and a bar crawl through town. A mixture of nights out and day trips will be held regularly throughout the year. Previous years' highlights include a Smarties Social, Pirates vs Sailors, S is for Sailing and a trip to Manchester's Christmas Markets!
